Our client had recently moved into this home knowing that the exterior of the property needed significant attention in order to meet their lifestyle needs. The backyard, while large and secluded was significantly under-utilized and in need of attention. It truly was a diamond in the rough. The yard was overgrown and an old storage shed served as home to the local squirrel community and other wildlife. An aging chain link fence meant an overall lack of privacy and security, and presented ongoing challenges in containing the large family dog. The yard suffered from poor overall grading and drainage and as a result many parts of the yard were often wet and soggy for long periods of time after rain or snowfall. Due to the pre-existing slope of the property, much of the back yard was non-functional unusable space. There existed a large walkout deck that they wished to retain but the deck was dated and structurally unsafe in its current state. The clients wanted a low maintenance, leisure and entertainment space for the family to enjoy time together and a place to entertain friends but they had little idea how to achieve their dream. The installation of a hot-tub/swim spa would serve as the yard’s focal point and the primary source of entertainment and leisure for family and friends. The large spa needed to be easily accessible from multiple points of the yard including from their existing walkout deck but also needed to be secured at the deck level from the family dog. Privacy was also paramount when using the swim spa. In addition to the swim spa, the client also desired a large custom built structure where they could use to escape from the mid afternoon sun, catch their favourite sporting event or movie on a large outdoor screen or simply a relax and enjoy drinks with friends at a custom built bar. The installation of under counter mini fridges would ensure that the drinks were always cold and plentiful. Additional patio space was necessary to ensure the yard was multi both multi-purpose and multi functional. Places to sit and read or chat, a place to gather and eat as well as ease of movement between all of the new areas of the yard was key to achieving both an aesthetically beautiful and flowing oasis. A comprehensive design plan, professional project management and superior workmanship were key in achieving the highest level of satisfaction for this client.
